Abstract


Original article: Chilean teenager's sexual life.


Aim: 
Knowing the sexually active adolescents,the number of teen who was protected during sex and sexual information and purchase.


Methods
The study group is the young Chilean population, including pregnant teenagers.
Data were collected through polls.
Home visits were also conducted to assess social and family environment of teenagers' homes.


Result
40% of adolescents in Chile have had sex, this percentage 47% are men and 32% are women.
The study also showed that early sexual relationships are in rural communities and areas
suburban.
In 2009 there were 39,627 teenage pregnancies according to the DEIS. Half of these pregnancies occurred after 6 months of the initiation of sexual activity, and 20% during the first month. Of all pregnant teens are 63% low socioeconomic status, 49% of an average level and 17% of high level.


30% of adolescents used a contraceptive method and 70% of youth do not use any contraceptive method because they believe they can not have a pregnant teenager.
Statistics show that during the year after giving birth, 30% of girls become pregnant again, and between 25% and 50% during the second year.
68% of adolescents are informed about sexuality with their friends, 15% from television, magazines 8%, 5% with their families and 4% by other means.


Conclusion
Is  important to educate the adolescent population through school projects and workshops for families, to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies because of ignorance about sexuality and the use of contraceptive methods.
